My dear Kathleen
I must answer your letter from Weybridge, what a jolly Higher Cambridge week you seem to have had.
I am glad the roses reached Miss White safely. I daresay I shall hear from her next week, it was very good of Olive to fetch them from the station. Father & I got up at six on Saturday to cut them, it was rather wet but there were plenty of very nice roses, we got two lovely large bunches, I put them in water & then Father helped me pack them & I rode up to Evesham after breakfast with them. Coming back it poured with rain & I got pretty wet. The tyre of my bicycle has gone wrong again, wretched thing, so I have had to ride your machine a few times lately. I am going to see Price about mine tomorrow.
Aren’t you glad Emily is coming? Won’t it be fun having her, she is coming here at the end of the holidays, so as to come on her way to Windsor. I want her to stay a fortnight. I expect she will be here for the Worcester festival. I have taught Baby to call her photo Emily, but she can’t quite manage that, so she points up to where the photo is & says “Emmee”. You must ask Joyce when she will be able to come.
I think I shall go to Sandwich somewhere about August 12th have about a week there & then on to Folkestone & home at the end of the month.
I am going to Worcester next Saturday by the 9.45 train to spend the day with Agnes Gedge, it will be rather nice seeing the High School.
Mother & I have been to the bazaar at Evesham today, having scraped together a few shillings to spend. We really couldn’t spend much with the prospect of the bazaar here on the 26th.
I had a letter from Maggie today, you & Ethel may be interested to see it so I am sending it on. I hope the prize-giving will go off well. I do hope Ethel will be top again this week as it is the last report, she is doing splendidly.
I have budded several rose-trees the last few days, Father begins his budding this month. Mother & I seem frantically busy just now, with all these people coming to see the roses, & this week Clara away on her holiday. May Keen who comes every day is a good substitute, but of course wants showing. She manages to get through more work than Clara all the same.
I am glad Ruth has finished her exam, I hope she no longer looks such a rag.
I am looking forward to the holidays now immensely, & I am sure you both are too.
