Just a line before leaving Rouen for the front area. You will have heard from Mary that I am going to a Mobile Lab. When I get there I'll probably have more to write about than now. I was glad to have your letter two days ago. You were very energetic to cycle all that way to Northleach; I hope the holidays there will do you all much good.

I am having sent home a few things which I don't need. I daresay they'll be some time on the way, but that won't matter: a camp bed, camp chair, some books, and an old pair of boots. I expect there will be charges to pay, will you do that for me and let me know how much.

I expect to like my change of work, and am glad to move from this base now, though it's likely enough I shan't find my new quarters so comfortable and placid as here.

With love to you all.

Your affectionate son

Arthur F Sladden
