Dear Uncle Julius
I sent you a letter on Saturday asking you to hold my letters for I expected to be leaving here for Torquay today. However that order appears to have been cancelled for this is Monday afternoon and we are still here and no word of going. However it should not be long now and I would like you to keep my letters till I send a settled address. You have sent me a splendid lot of letters since I returned from leave and I have had a busy time replying to them all. Within the last few days I have had letters from May, Juliet and Kathleen, also one from Mela. Aunt George has written again, sending me a parcel with various delicacies in it and a pair of woollen mittens, which is very kind and thoughtful of her. Another letter has come from Aunt Lottie. There is nothing in her letter to indicate that she is worrying about her illness and I am hoping that she is really feeling better. I am glad to hear that she has had the gas stove removed, although she complains that it is difficult to keep warm with a coal fire.
We had a full moon last night which has made things unpleasant underfoot and I have not taken my usual walk out on the Plain today.
This is just a short letter, mainly to confirm my wire of Saturday.
Love and best wishes to all at Badsey.
Your affectionate nephew
Bernard Sladden
