Dearest, I am scribbling a few lines while I am out of doors just to let you know a letter follows tomorrow if I can possibly get one ready by then. I am now “specialling” a case which is a very odoriferous one after being boxed up with it in quite a small room I feel I must go out into the fresh air after – thus all my correspondence has been neglected.
Please send me the envelope which you say you received addressed from here in an unknown handwriting and yet containing a letter from me. We often post in the hospital letter box and I may be able to trace the mystery, if I may have the envelope.
My patient is an old man of 74 years and he is not expected to live indeed his life would not be worth living so it is to be hoped he will not live. He has a habit of jumping out of bed so he has to have a nurse to himself to keep him quiet.
You are a funny boy sometimes – you never asked how my poor old sprained foot was going along – you don’t deserve a letter you naughty boy!!
I have finished the cholera belt will send with next letter.
Best love from your own
Mela
