Little information has been found about Charles Nixon, apart from the baptismal records of three of his daughters in Badsey – Ann (1679), Elizabeth (1681) and Henrietta (1684). He had been born at Chieveley, Berkshire on 12th September 1648.
Despite the dates given for Nixon on the list of Vicars in Badsey Church (who were supposed to be also vicars of Wickhamford during this period), the ecclesiastical records give the date of his appointment to the parish of Wickhamford as 25th March 1690.
He had been ordained a deacon in September 1674 and a priest in June 1677 at Christchurch, Oxford.
In 1705 Nixon was presented to the Bishop of Worcester by the Wickhamford churchwardens. They said: “Wee present Mr Charles Nixon for neglect of service att Wickhamford and now att present voyd of a viker to supply the place”
Nixon left the parish in the same year and became Vicar of Chieveley in the Diocese of Oxford.
