The earliest known Vicar of Badsey was Thomas James who was the last appointment by the Abbot of Evesham and received £5 6s 8d a year.
In 1558, the Badsey churchwardens’ accounts record that Thomas James gave a legacy of 10 shillings to the church on his death: “Sr Thomas James Vicar here dyd geue to ye churche Xs att his deptyng”. He was described as “chaplain” and was buried on 4th September 1557.
