Lieutenant-Colonel Bernard Barton, who lived for a short time at Bowers Hill, Badsey, is remembered on the war memorial in the chapel at St Peter’s School, York, where he was a pupil from 1894-1897.
The war memorial consists of a wooden board with the school crest at the top followed by the words, “To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Peterites who fell in the Great War 1914-1918”. B Barton is one of 77 names listed beneath.
In the school itself is a Commemorative Book which records the names of past pupils of the school who gave their lives in both World Wars.
