I came back from leave on the 5th feeling very much benefitted by the change. I did some rowing on the river at Marlow and was pleased to find I was not very much out of practice.
It seems ages since I heard from you which does not make it any the easier to write!
Last night we had a dance for the women – quite a success. They appeared to have invited no one below the rank of full Corporal. Fearfully superior! The behaviour and the dancing was exemplary.
I have just been made PRI of the women’s NACB Canteen. It is rather fun getting the place running. I shall be a dab hand at running all sorts of shows soon – amongst other things a huge laundry. Oh, the laundresses are characters!
We are having all sorts of improvements done here. A new mess is being opened for administrators, and one for the Forewomen. All kinds of alterations. The Controller from the Southern Command is coming to inspect tomorrow and we’ve had no end of generals etc!
What a life!
I hope, dear Heart, you are keeping fit and well through the summer. Your record for being on the sick list is marvellous, especially as the heat used to bowl you over in England!
I do hope I shall hear from you soon.
I feel as though you are slipping out of my life when I don’t hear. It makes things very difficult after all these years.
