Details of Will

I, Francis Grove of Badsey, yeoman, being of perfect mind and  memory (praise be God), commit my soul into the hand of God my Saviour Christ and my body to the earth decently to be buried:

  • I give to my dear and loving wife, during her life, the one half of all my household goods and my will is that my executor shall pay unto my wife the sum of £12 yearly as long as she shall live and it is my will further that my during her natural life shall have and enjoy to her own use the lower parlour with the buttery adjoining to it to have egrisse and regresse to the same
  • To my son Pearcy Grove seven score pounds be paid within one year after my decease and three score pounds within one year after and £40 within one year after that
  • My will is that my executor shall pay to my son Thomas that money which is unpaid of the six score pounds which I did promise him at his marriage
  • To my son Francis I give 5 shillings
  • To my daughter Sarah wife of Thomas Smyth the sum of three score pounds to dispose of the same as she shall think fit it is my will that my executor pay my daughter her money within three years
  • The rest of my goods and chattels I give and bequeath to my son John Grove
