Details of Will
I Henry Byrd of 83 High Street, Evesham, Farmer, give:
- To Harriet Byrd, the widow of my late brother John Byrd, and Nellie Byrd the wife of my nephew Henry Panting Byrd for their respective lives the yearly sum of £12 each free from legacy duty commencing from my death which said yearly sums shall be chargeable upon and be payable and issue out of my freehold estate hereinafter divided known as Bowers Hill situate in the respective parishes of Badsey and Willersey, or in case the estate shall be sold the said yearly sums shall be chargeable upon and be payable out of the purchase money thereof
- To my nephew John Byrd the son of my brother Cornelius Byrd my five preference shares numbers 546-550 inclusive and my 15 ordinary shares 743-752 inclusive and 779-783 inclusive in Sladden & Collier Ltd of Evesham, Brewers
- To my housekeeper Alice Amelia Nind if she shall reside with me at my decease all the furniture bedding glass china, linen, pictures, books and other effects which shall be in and about the bedroom occupied by her in my residence at my decease and also the brass skeleton clock now in the front sitting room of my residence and I also bequeath to her the sum of £100
- To Charles, John and Alfred Cornelius, the three children of my brother Cornelius Byrd, to Edgar, Charles Henry, Raymond John and Albert Edward, the four children of my brother Charles Byrd, to Charles Henry Morgan, the son of my late sister Hester Morgan, to Annie Louisa Goodall, the daughter of my late sister Annie Goodall, to Frederick Walter Goodall, Harry Goodall and Hester Margaret Goodall, the three children or reputed children of my sister Mary by her late husband or reputed husband Walter Goodall, to Edwin Grove and Vernon Grove, the two children of my sister Mary by her present husband Edwin Grove and to Henry Harper the son of my late wife’s niece Mercy Rose Harper the sum of £100 each
- To my late wife’s two nieces Harriet Smith, the wife of John Smith of Ettingshaw in the county of Stafford and the said Mercy Rose Harper, the wife of Thomas Harper of Ellingshaw the sum of £200 each
- To Albert William Byrch £52 10s as a token of my friendship and as a slight recompense for the trouble he will have in connection with his office as executor of this will
- All my freehold messuage, buildings, farm lands, cottage, outbuildings, hereditaments and premises with the appurtenances belonging thereto in the respective parishes of Badsey and Willersey comprising 99a 0r 4p known by the name of Bowers Hill and which I lately purchased from the mortgagees of the late Thomas Yardington Tovey and William Tovey subject to and charged with the payment of the annuities bequeath to the said Harriet Byrd and Nellie Byrd and also subject to the existing lease of the said hereditaments and premises date 5th April 1898 and made between myself of the one part and John Idiens of Evesham, Merchant of the other part, unto and to the use of my nephew Henry Panting Byrd and my five nieces Annie Louisa Byrd, Mary Jane Byrd, Sarah Byrd, Esther Byrd and Caroline May Byrd, the son and daughters of my late brother John Byrd, provided always that whereas the hereinbefore mentioned lease of the hereditaments comprised in the last devise contains provisions giving to the lessee thereof the option of purchasing the leased hereditaments and premises at the times and for the prices and in manner therein contained. Now I hereby declare and direct that in case the lessee his executors administrators or assigns should exercise his or their right of purchase and the sale and purchase of the said hereditaments should be carried into execution then that the purchase money thereof after paying thereout the costs and expenses incidental thereteo shall be paid to the said Henry Panting Byrd, Annie Louisa Byrd, Mary Jane Byrd, Sarah Byrd, Esther Byrd and Caroline May Byrd absolutely in equal shares as tenants in common…
