A SIEVE OF TOMATOES
About a month ago Mr. D.J. Harris, of Belmont Terrace, Badsey, sent a marrow to Birmingham for sale on behalf of the Red Cross; as we reported at the time, it realised a very good figure. Mr. Harris has followed up this line of work for the Red Cross by sending, on Friday last, to Mr. A. Bennett, of Villa Road, Handsworth, a sieve of tomatoes for him to exhibit to his customers, the subscriptions received to go to the funds of that excellant organisation. Mr. Bennett duly exhibited the tomatoes, and in a few days raised the sum of £1 7s 6d. He handed over the money to the Queen’s College Hospital, the Treasurer of which expressed his pleasure at the receipt of this sum, and has promised to let Mr. Bennett know what is done with the money.
