William Henry Jelfs (28), married, a Badsey market gardener with 3½ acres of ground, appealed. He had previously been given exemption, conditional on looking after Sergeant Sparrow’s land. Another man had got a certificate from the Appeal Tribunal on the strength of looking after the same land, and applicant now asked for a certificate as a market gardener.

William Herbert Jelfs (28), market gardener, Badsey, again appealed. He has 3½ acres of land. He said that he had an invalid wife, and also two children. Dr Leslie wrote as to the delicate state of his wife. Jelfs has been passed for general service. He said his wife was taken worse in March.
