MORE GERMAN PRISONERS FOR EVESHAM
Another hundred German prisoners are expected at Evesham in the course of a few days and this will bring the number up to 208. The demands of employers of labour will not then be satisfied and there is no doubt that regular work right through the winter could be found for a much larger number. The prisoners will live under canvas in a camp inside the Old Brickyard at Bengeworth, which is now ready for their reception, the necessary sanitary work including draining, having been carried out by Mr John Knox. The Drill Hall will in future be used as a barracks for the guard, who henceforth will not live in billets. Other prisoners are expected at Peopleton shortly, and here a similar camp to that at Evesham is being prepared by Mr Knox.
