MORE TERRITORIALS FROM EVESHAM

A HEARTY “SEND-OFF”

On Monday morning a large batch of recruits for the 8th Reserve Battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment went off from Evesham. They numbered 64 men, and with them were Capt. Cliff and Lieut. Warner. Col.-Sergt. Gardiner was in charge of the men.

There was a celebration of Holy Communion at All Saints Church at 7.30 a.m., and this was followed by special service at 8 o’clock. The Vicar (Rev. Dr Walker) read the prayers, and the lesson was read by the Rev. W.C. Allsebrook (vicar of Badsey). The hymns were “O God our Help in Ages Past,” and “O God, of Jacob by whose hand.” In the course of a short address to the recruits the Vicar of Evesham said they could not have a nobler cause to fight for. It was a just and righteous cause.
