Quarterly Badsey Society newsletter sent to members. Events: report on a successful exhibition at Badsey First School Summer Fete & mentioned visitor from Scotland, Margaret Crawford (daughter of Lily Keen of Badsey). Committee Meeting to amend Society’s constitution to show what would happen to the Society’s assets in event of winding up. The Society was accumulating equipment and funding providers needed to be certain that their money would not be wasted. Society had successful Flower Show stand which was visited by great-nephew of Charles Binyon. Future events: Village History Walk following part of the route of the 1901 census enumerator Walter Warmington, landlord of the Bell Inn; School History Book Launch and Lecture on Civil War in Worcestershire by Malcolm Atkin. Our new book on Badsey School finally had title: “Heads and Tales: A History of Badsey Schools”. Contains photographs, illustrations and children’s work including letters by Dulcie Jelfs and Hilary Crane written in 1933 for the Rothamsted Research Institute in Hertfordshire. Extract from a letter by Kenneth Ellison, father of Society member Jane Thompson. Kenneth talked of his brother working at Littleton and Badsey Growers and mentioned other family members. Details of Badsey School celebrations to commemorate founding of the National School in 1854. Special peal of bells of 5056 changes dedicated to Eve Bent, a former School Governor. At book launch a painting by Michael Barnard was to be unveiled. Names of Committee members: Terry Sparrow (Chairman/Treasurer), Maureen Spinks (Secretary), Will Dallimore (Membership Secretary), Ian Gibson, Tony Jerram, Richard Phillips, Neil Thould, Carolyn Worth.
