Quarterly Badsey Society newsletter sent to members. Events: Badsey Flower Show and Badsey Village Walk. Badsey Flower show suffered very wet weather but we still had visitors to our stand and many members won cups/trophies. Village Walk began at Wilson family’s Manor House, via listed labourer’s cottage in Orchard Way and then blacksmith. David Caswell recounted stories of his blacksmithing family during the last three generations. Future events: talk by Colonel John Lowles on the Worcestershire Regiment (WR) on men of Badsey who fought and fell during the First World War. Men from the WR who lost their lives in the Great War were Bernard Barton, Richard Cole, Cecil Crane, Walter Crane, Horace Halford, William Hanks, Fredrick Hartwell, Albert Huxley, Thomas Knight, Ernest Marshall, Louis Sparrow, Ernest Yeates, George Mason, Charles Robbins and Thomas Willoughby. In World War 2 Badsey lost James Chamberlain, Louis Jelfs and Frederick Perkins. There would be Day School on Enclosure Records called “Enclosure; Redrawing the Landscape” by Dr Steven Hollowell; AGM; End of Enclosure Project Gala Evening and Badsey Flower Show. Available for loan from the library is book by Peter Stewart entitled “Waterside Cemetery, Evesham – A Survey of the Burial Registers, Interments and Monumental Inscriptions 1875 – 2005”.
