In consideration of the sum of £45 Susanna Seward paid by Thomas Holyoak and also in consideration of the sum of 5 shillings to Susanna Seward at the same time paid by Joseph Jones sold to Joseph Jones and Thomas Holyoake All that messuage cottage or tenement and garden situate and being in Badsey formerly in the occupation of James Minett but now of Thomas Holyoake
Susanna Seward appointed Richard Smart her new lawful attorney for her and in her name place and stead to enter into the said messuage cottage or tenement and premises

Indenture made 1824 between John Sansome of Great and Little Hampton, gentleman of the first part, Joseph Jones of Badsey, gentleman and Elizabeth his wife of the second part, Thomas fisher of Childswickham, Glos, gentleman, of the third part
Whereas by an Indenture of Demise by way of mortgage bearing date 16th May 1813 made between Joseph Jones and Elizabeth his wife of the first part, Richard Smart of Evesham, gentleman of the second part, the said John Sansome of the third part, and Frederick Phelps of Evesham, gentleman of the fourth part
After reciting that the said Joseph Jones and Elizabeth his wife did pay or ? in the 50th year of the reign of his late Majesty King George III in ? form of Law, Levy and acknowledge in his Majesty’s Court of Common Plea at Westminster before the ? of the same Court One Fine sur conveyance de droit with proclamation according to the statute …..? unto the said ? by and upon ? other hereditaments All that messuage or tenement with the barns, stables and other outbuildings, garden and orchard thereunto belonging and also all other several pieces or parcels of inclosed land or ground situate in Badsey and also all those several pieces or parcels, sellions or rudges of land situate lying and being in the open and common fields of Badsey and thereinafter particularly mentioned and described thereinafter granted demised or intended containing in the whole 80a or thereabouts by the description of the messuage or cottage three barns, two stables 100 acres of land, 50 acres of meadow, 50 acres of pasture with the appurtenances in Badsey and Bretforton and reciting that no ? had been declared
It is witnessed that in consideration of the sum of £1600 paid to Joseph Jones by John Sansome. Joseph Jones did demise grant bargain and sell to John Sansome:

- All that close or inclosed ground of pasture land called the Clay Brook Close containing 5a 0r 3p and also
- All that little close of pasture land called the Sand close with the Stone Pippin Orchard adjoining containing 5a 3r 38p
- All that piece of ground called the New Piece some time since inclosed with a fence and planted with fruit trees but formerly belonging to the common fields of Badsey containing 5 acres and also all that piece or parcel of land called Hancocks Close containing 5a 0r 27p all which said premises are situate in Badsey
- All those several pieces or parcels sellions or rudges of arable, meadow and pasture land situate lying and being dispersed in the open and common fields of Badsey containing by estimation 80 acres all which premises were then in the tenure or occupation of Joseph Jones and were bought and purchased by him with a certain cottage or tenement called Pritchetts House, a Smith’s Shop? And an Orchard or small piece of ground being converted into a garden and since sold to Mr Piercy Jones and a close called Netherfield Close since sold to Elizabeth Ballard of and from Miss Rebecca Robarts
- And also all and singular all and every or any allotment or allotment exchange or exchanges of land set out and allotted or awarded and exchanged or intended to be as in the Enclosure Act of Parliament
To hold the same messuage or tenement, close, piece or parcels of land and premises or appurtenances to John Sansome subject to a proviso for redemption of £1600 with interest
And whereas John Sansome hath applied to Joseph Jones to discharge the same but he being at present unable so to do, that solicited Thomas Fisher to advance and lend him the same

Indenture made 11th April 1826 between William Ballard of Badsey, yeoman, eldest son and heir at law of William Ballard late of the same place and who died intestate of the first part, Elizabeth Ballard of the same place, widow and relict of the said William Ballard of the second part, Timothy Care of Birmlingham, Worcs, yeoman of the third part, the Rev Henry Portmore Cooper of Evesham, Clerk, of the fourth part, and Jonah Thompson of Evesham, gentleman, of the fifth part
Whereas by Indentures of lease and release bearing date 28th and 29th days of March 1798 between John Wilson of Badsey, gentleman of the one part and the said William Ballard of the other part (in consideration of the sum of £150), All that close, piece or parcel of pasture land called Netherfield Close containing 2 acres and a half
And whereas by Indentures of lease and release bearing date 24th and 25th March 1813 between Joseph Jones and Elizabeth his wife and the said William Ballard of the second part and Richard Smith of the third part (in consideration of the sum of £315), All that close or inclosed ground of pasture land called the Netherfield Close containing 3a 2r 10p
And whereas by Indenture of demise by way of mortgage bearing date 7th November 1814 and made between William Ballard of the first part, Elizabeth Ballard of the second part and William Law Phelps of Evesham of the third part, the closes, pieces or parcels of land or ground hereinbefore referred to and hereinafter described with the appurtenances were (in consideration of £400 by the said William Law Phelps to the said William Ballard and Elizabeth Ballard paid therein, with a proviso of redemption
And whereas by an Indenture of Assignment bearing date 6th April 1815 made between William Law Phelps of the one part and Timothy Care of the other part (in consideration of £400) the closes, pieces or parcels of land or ground were assigned over to Timothy Care

All that close, piece or parcel of pasture ground called or known by the name of the Netherfield Close containing 2a 2r 0p being formerly the estate of the said William Ballard deceased and also all that other close, piece or parcel of arable land also called Netherfield Close adjoining the said last mentioned close containing 3a 2r 11p and formerly bought and purchased by the said William Ballard from the said Joseph Jones which said two closes, pieces or parcels of land were formerly divided and are now in one close situate in Badsey and in the respective occupation of James Harris and John Allchurch as tenants bounded on the east side by land belonging to Mr Edward Wilson and on the west side by a lane leading from Badsey to South Littleton and Offenham

Of Stow on the Wold, Glos, Mercer, younger son of William Mence of the same place, mercer, Samuel Gardner of Evesham, hosier and John Venfield of Bourton on the Water, Glos of the first part, Ann Jordan of Burford in the county of Oxford, spinster of the second part, John Thorpe of Burford aforesaid Clerk and Paul Silvester of the same place, clothier of the third part
It is witnesseth that Samuel Mence in consideration of a marriage to be solemnized between Samuel Mence and Ann Jordan and in consideration that Ann Jordan by Indentures of lease and release bearing date equal with the now abstracting indenture had conveyed and settled the moiety of certain hereditaments in the Indenture of Release And for other considerations did grant and release the said Samuel Gardner and John Venfield at the request of Samuel Mence did release and confirm unto John Thorpe and Paul Silvester

After reciting that William Mence was in his lifetime seized in his demesne as of fee and among other hereditaments of and in one messuage or tenement and divers parcels of land in Badsey and Aldington then occupied by Robert Mason and of other cottages in Badsey of which said premises the said William Mence died seized on or about 10th December 1756 upon whose decease the said Catherine became entitled (that she and the said Henry Middleton her husband in her right were or one of them then was entitled to dower or thirds in right of the said Catherine out of all the said premises for the natural life of her the said Catherine and that being so entitle he the said Jordan Mince had purchased of him the said all the state, profit of dower of her the said Catherine right title interest, claim and demand whatever of them the said Henry Middleton and Catherine his wife of to the aforesaid premises for the sum of £315 And that the said Henry Middleton and agreed that he with the said Catherine his wife should and would well and sufficiently convey and assure unto the said Jordan Mence, Witnessed that in consideration of £315 paid by Jordan Mince that Henry and Catherine Middleton would, before the end of the then present Hilary or the then next Easter Term acknowledge and levy in due form two or some fine sur conveyance de droit and with proclamation unto the said John Grayhurst one of … hereditaments in Gloucestershire and the other of the said hereditaments and premises in Badsey and Aldington.

Reciting that a marriage was intended to be solemnised between John Brain and Esther Beesley and that Esther Beesley was seized in fee simple of a certain messuage, outbuildings, orchard and gardens in Badsey. In consideration of the marriage, did grant and release to Charles Welch and John Rickards, All that messuage or tenement with the garden, orchard, outbuildings thereunto adjoining and other the appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and being in Badsey then occupied by Esther Beesley
To hold unto Charles Welch, John Richards their heirs upon trust for the use of Esther Beesley her heirs until the marriage take effect
Esther Brain died but before she died she made her will bearing date 22nd Sep 1785, whereby, by virtue and in pursuance of the power and authority given did give devise direct limit the messuage etc to her husband John Brain for and during the term of his natural life and from after his decease the testatrix gave to her nephew Samuel Rickards. Will proved at Canterbury. Samuel Rickards had occasion to borrow £54 which James Etheridge agreed to advance him.

8th June 1753 – By Indenture of Mortgage made between William Godfrey the elder and William Godfrey the younger, both of Badsey, yeomen, since deceased of the one part and Bridget Laugher of the other part, William Godfrey the elder and William Godfrey the younger did demise and grant unto Bridget Laugher, All those 12 acres of arable land more or less with the appurtenances situate lying and being dispersedly in the several common fields of Badsey and also one half of a certain close in Badsey called Sand Close being that part which is next Powells Green and all other the lands tenements hereditaments of them William Godfrey the elder and William Godfrey the younger with their appurtenances in Badsey to hold the same unto Bridget Laugher at the yearly rent of a peppercorn
And whereas the said tenements and premises by virtue of several mortgages and assigns of the same, Thomas Cotterell of Badsey, yeoman, sum of £84, redemption of William Godrey the younger, the father William Godfrey the elder being dead and his son being his heir
3rd April 1768 – Indenture made between Thomas Cotterell of the first part, William Godfrey, the son of the second part and Piercy Jones of the third part, in consideration of the sum of £88 paid by Piercy Jones at the request of William Godfrey, the said Thomas Cottrell did assign and set over and the said William Godfrey in consideration of the sum of £4 did grant unto Piercy Jones, All the aforesaid several parcels of arable land, the half of the said close called Sand Close and all and singular the hereditaments
William Godfrey the son departed this life some time since but made his will dated 9th May 1769 and thereby devised his hereditaments unto Richard Stephens and his heirs
Richard Stephens departed this life some time since without having disposed of the hereditaments, they descended unto the said Elizabeth Stephens and Mary the wife of Thomas Smith of Offenham, yeoman, his two daughters
And whereas there is now due and owing to Piercy Jones upon security of the said Indenture of April 1768, Piercy Jones hat contracted and agreed with Elizabeth Stephens for the absolute purchases of the equal undivided moiety at the sum of £150 out of which purchase money it has been agreed that the sum of £47, being an equal moiety of money due to Piercy Jones shall be deducted and retained by him and that the other moiety of the sum of £95 shall remain secured to the said Piercy Jones on the Mary Smith’s half part or share of the land and hereditaments
Now this Indenture witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of £47.10 being a moiety or equal half part of the sum of £95 owing to Piercy Jones on security of the Indenture of 1768 and for and in consideration of the further sum of £102.10.0 (making £150) paid to Elizabeth Stephens. Elizabeth Stephens hath granted bargained sold unto John Jones (in his actual possession now being by virtue of a bargain and sale to him thereof made by the said Elizabeth Stephens in consideration of 5 shillings to her paid by the said John Jones), All that one equal undivided moiety half part or share (the whole into two equal parts or shares to be divided) of and in All those the aforesaid 12 acres of arable land lying and being dispersedly in the several common fields of Badsey, that is to say:

- In Foxhill Field on sarndell shooting into Paines Headland having land late of Henry Seward north and Edward Wilson south, one short? Ley at the upper end of Foxhill Dean having the Poors Land east and land now or late of Sam Wilson west, two lands shooting into the black ground having land late of Mr Seward north and Thomas Izard south
- In Meerdon Field, one acre upon Bowers Hill next to the highway having land now or late of Mr Fisher north, one land shooting in Meerdon having land then of Edward Wilson east and Mr Bird west, one land shooting into Mr Mence’s headland having land now or late of Mr Mence east and Mr Grove west

All those 5 ridges or sellions of arable land lying in the open and common fields of Badsey aforesaid commonly called Bretforton Field containing 2.1.8, also all 3 rudges or sellions of arable land lying in another open and common field in Badsey called Fox Hill field containing 3r 12p, also all those 3 rudges or sellions lying in another open and common field in Badsey commonly called Meerden Field containing 1a 19p, also all those 4 rudges or sellions of arableland lying in another common field of Badsey commonly called Bully Brook Field containing 1.1.4 or thereabouts, and also all those 2 rudges or sellions of arable land lying in another common field in Badsey commonly called Sand Field containing 3r 15p were conveyed to the use of William Fisher subject to a proviso for redemption upon payment by the said James Harris his heirs and assigns to William Fisher of the sum of £300
The commissioners named and appointed in the Act of Parliament for inclosing the land allotted James Harris two pieces of land
And whereas William Fisher died 12th Nov last having made his will dated 9th May 1816 and appointed Stephen Fisher and Thomas Fisher executors, proved in the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury on 24th March, and whereas there is now owing to Stephen Fisher and Thomas Fisher £300 which they requested back. James Harris being unable so to do hath applied to and requested Thomas Bishop to lend and advance him the sum of £300

Whereas by Indenture of Demise by way of mortgage bearing date 7th December 1812 and made between Joseph Jones of the one part and John Smith and Francis Dunn of the other part, All that close or inclosed piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of Under Badsey Ground containing 21.3.28 being part of a certain farm called Aldington Farm which Joseph Jones purchased from the Trustees of the Right Honourable Thomas Lord Foley and conveyed to him on 26th and 27th December1803, was (in consideration of the sum of £1000 to the said Joseph Jones in hand paid by John Smith and Francis Dunn) demised and granted by Joseph Jones unto John Smith and Francis Dunn
And whereas there is now due and owing to John Smith and Francis Dunn the sum of £1000, but Joseph Jones was unable to repay the money, John Smith alone then took on the mortgage.
