Between the years 1911 and 1913, eight members of the Idiens family (John and Alice and seven of their eight children) emigrated to Canada; Stanley South Idiens was the fourth to go.
Stanley was born at Evesham on 18th May 1891, the youngest of seven children of John Idiens and his wife, Alice (née South). He was baptised at All Saints, Evesham, on 2nd August 1891. Stanley spent his early years at their home in High Street, Evesham. Around 1899, his parents took on the tenancy of Wickhamford Manor, where they were living at the time of the 1901 census. They quickly became involved with the local community.
By 1911, the Idiens family had left Wickhamford and moved to Poole; Stanley had gone with them and was working as a bank clerk.
Nine months after his brother, Bert, and two months after his brother, Cyril, Stanley emigrated to Canada on 22nd December 1912. He left Liverpool, bound for Halifax, Nova Scotia. His eldest sister, Daisy had been the first to emigrate the year before. His parents and two sisters, Edith and Doris, were to follow three and a half months later.
Stanley joined the Canadian Army in October 1916 during the First World War and served two years in the yeomanry.
Stanley never married. He died at Comox on 25th June 1980.
