These photographs were donated to the Braziers for the exhibition in 1971, either by Cyril Sladden or Juliet Sladden (the only two of eight Sladden siblings still living).
The photos show the old cottage which was once situated on the plot of land north of the lychgate in St James’ churchyard, Badsey; they are taken from the opposite side of the road in Chapel Street. The cottage was thought to have been inhabited until about the 1930s, but then left in a ruinous state. The Sladden family had bought both this cottage and the nearby cottages called Sharps Row in the early part of the 20th century. In the 1940s, Miss Ethel Sladden donated the land to the Parochial Church Council in order to allow a churchyard extension to be built and the house was demolished.
