OCTOGENARIAN’S DEATH
One of Badsey’s oldest inhabitants, Mrs John Keen (85), of Brewers Lane, was buried on Saturday. Mrs Keen who had lived practically all her life in Badsey, was married at the Parish Church on June 17 1880. She is survived by her husband, three sons and five daughters. The funeral was conducted by the Vicar (Rev W C Allsebrook), the service being fully choral. The hymns, “The King of Love my Shepherd is”, “Let Saints on Earth in Concert Sing” and “Abide with me” were sung. The mourners were: Mr John Keen, Mr & Mrs A C Keen, Mr & Mrs T Keen (sons and daughters-in-law), Mr & Mrs H Green (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs T Eden, Mrs H Rowe, Mrs W Bromley (daughters, Mrs W Keen (daughter-in-law), Mr H Northwood (son-in-law), Mrs E Cleveley (sister-in-law), Mrs F Holley, Miss L Keen, Miss A Keen, Miss P Keen, Miss E Keen (granddaughters), Mr W Eden (grandson), Mrs T Brotherton, Mrs C Mun, Mrs Bailey (nieces), Mr F Parker (nephew), and Mrs Savory (neighbour). The bearers were Messrs W Keen, H Keen, A Keen (nephews) and Mr W O Yarrow. Among the wreaths was one from Mr C Hunt, son of the late Rev T Hunt, former Vicar of Badsey, in whose service Mrs Keen was for a number of years before her marriage.
