Friday 24 December 1948 – Death and funeral of Pansy Hutchings

LATE MISS P HUTCHINGS

We regret to announce the death of Miss Pansy Hutchings, only child of Mr & Mrs R. Hutchings of No 20 Synehurst, Badsey, which took place at her home on Monday. Miss Hutchings who was only 25 years of age, had been in ill-health for the past 16 months, and for practically the whole of this time she had been confined to her bed. Born in Badsey. she attended Badsey Council School, and until her illness she was employed by Messrs J & R Fleming Ltd at Blackminster. Possessed of cheerful disposition, she had numerous friends. All will join in expressing sympathy to Mr & Mrs Hutchings in their sad loss.

FUNERAL

The funeral of Miss Pansy Hutchings, only child of Mr & Mrs R. Hutchings of No 20 Synehurst, Badsey (whose death at the age of twenty-five was reported last week), took place at Badsey on Thursday afternoon last week. The Vicar (the Rev W B Chapman) officiated and during the service in St James’ Church, which preceded the interment in St. James' Churchyard, the hymns. "The day Thou gavest Lord is ended" and "Abide with me" were sung. Mrs G Marshall presided at the organ.  

The mourners were Mr & Mrs R Hutchings (father and mother), Mr H Hutchings (uncle), Miss P Hutchings (aunt), Mr & Mrs F Hutchings, Kent (uncle and aunt), Mr & Mrs F Hutchings Junior, Kent (cousins). Mr L Hutchings (cousin), Mrs B. Baker (cousin), Mr V G Knight (fiancé) and Mrs Knight, Littleton. 

A large number of Pansy's friends were present, the church being half-full of sympathisers, and included representatives of Messrs F & R Fleming, Blackminster (where deceased was employed until her illness). The bearers were Messrs J Collett (cousin), F Roberts, W Yeates and K Knight (cousin). A large number of wreaths placed on the grave after the interment included those from the staff and employees of Messrs F & R Fleming of Blackminster.
