DISTRICT NEWS, BADSEY – WEDDING
The wedding took place on Saturday of Miss Gertrude May Hartwell, only daughter of Mr William Hartwell of 9 Cotswold View, Badsey, and Mr George Johnson, eldest son of Mr & Mrs George Johnson of 48 Deacle Place, Bengeworth. The Vicar (Canon W C Allsebrook, RD) officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a dress of beige lace with hat and shoes to match and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, red carnations and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid was Miss Annie Kilby of Willersey, whose dress was of blue satin with hat to match. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Walter Johnson, brother of the bridegroom.
Among the presents was an 8-day striking clock from the Vale of Evesham Canners Ltd, by whom the bride was employed, and a dinner service to the groom from his fellow employees of J M Stokes, Evesham, and a silver tea pot and stand from the Willersey FC of which the groom is a playing member. The happy couple’s future home will be at 35 Lime Street, Evesham.
