How did the road get its name?
Sunset Way has a postal address of Evesham, belongs to the parish of Bengeworth, but nearly a third of the houses are physically located within the Aldington parish boundary. Like a number of houses on the housing estate (primarily in Evesham) off Offenham Road, it is named after an apple, Sunset Apple, recognizing the former orchard use of the land.
When did housing development begin?
Sunset Way is a development of 50 detached houses built by Barratt Homes on former orchard land off Offenham Road in 2016-2017. Prior to that, a house had been built on the land in the 1860s. It was known as Southbank, Offenham Road and Aldington Fruit Farm had operated from there until about 2012. As at 2017, Southbank was being used as an office by the builders.
