July 7 (church service followed by cremation), Mildred Pearl Sandford, aged 63
Her sudden collapse at the British Legion fete, in which, as usual, she took an active part, was another real shock to us all. Pearl was an assiduous worker for good caused and did not spare herself. She also had the gift of friendship, and this was attested by the large gathering of mourners. Her children, Robin and Jean, came over from the States for the funeral, and to be with their father for a while.
