Benjamin Hemming (1807-1878), whilst Curate at Honeybourne, conducted four services at Badsey during the absence of the Curate.
Benjamin Hemming was born at Broughton Hackett, Worcestershire, in 1807, the second son of Samuel Hemming, gentleman, and his wife, Mary. Benjamin matriculated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford, on 1st December 1825, aged 19, gaining his BA in 1831.
Benjamin was Curate of Honeybourne in 1839 (standing in for the absentee Vicar, the Reverend William Baldwin Bonaker) when he conducted four services at Badsey in April and May in the inter-regnum between two Curates. Benjamin was married to Caroline and his only son, Benjamin Francis Hemming, was born at Honeybourne in 1840.
Reverend Hemming was appointed chaplain of Pershore Union in 1850 and Vicar of Wick in 1848 until his death in 1878. In 1851, Benjamin Hemming lived at Bridge Street, Pershore, with his wife, son, a pupil and two servants; he was described as Perpetual Curate of Wick. At the time of the 1861 census, he was Curate of Bricklehampton, living at 8 Bridge Street, Pershore, with his wife, 20-year-old son and three servants. In 1871, his address was Three Spring Road, Pershore, living there with his wife and a servant; he was then Vicar of Wick.
Reverend Hemming died at Pershore on 22nd April 1878.
