My dear Father

You will have had news that I’m laid up in bed. This explains the lateness of my letter – I haven’t made much progress yet, neuralgia, especially of the eyes being the worst trouble. However I suppose it will gradually settle down, and then I’ll pick up all right. As it is, I have to use my eyes very little, probably not at all would be best.

I had your parcels including the book and photo yesterday. I am very pleased with the photo and understand another one is to come from Dowlais. The book will be nice to read later on.

I mustn’t write more now. Please regard this as my Xmas letter to all; you’ll all be much in my thoughts on 25th. Mary was buying presents for me for all.

I’ll write again in a few days and hope to give a better account of myself then.

With much love.

Your affectionate son
Arthur
