Dear Cyril
Although late I hope my congratulations on your engagement which I now send are none the less sincere but the fact was I knew nothing about it till Ethel in a letter said for Mela was spending the weekend at Badsey then I had to enquire who Mela might be. Now I am writing to ask if you will come and spend the weekend and then introduce Mela to me. Perhaps you could come Friday in time for dinner and arrange for Mela to come here either Saturday or Sunday [?], but you two must decide about them.
Your Mother seems fairly well I feel since the Eastbourne air did do her a lot of good. Hoping my suggestions will suit with you.
With love from
E Fellows
