Chipping Norton
10th January 1879
My dear Husband,
I was very sorry not to be able to go down to Badsey today, but even before your telegram came I had decided to stay till tomorrow, as the men sent me word that they should only be able to make up one bed today.
Edith went up to the house this morning & swept it down, so as to have it in better condition than Mrs Saunders did. Edith tells me some one came yesterday to enquire for Mrs Epps & asked if she was not in the house yet, so I suppose they are to have it; I hope they will take the fittings.
Dear Baby has been such a good boy since we have been down here, & has slept the greater part of his time. Kind Mrs Bamford has left all directions for our comfort & the servant is most obliging.
I suppose you will meet us tomorrow at 1.18, I hope it will not snow as Baby has a little cold & I don’t want him to increase it.
With fondest love my darling
Believe me
Your loving wife
