My dear Julius,
We had a very good journey up, only stopping a few minutes at Oxford & Reading & were at Paddington by 9.15 so that we caught the 10.15 from Waterloo easily & were down here before eleven o’clock, before they expected me. We are going to drive to Richmond this afternoon, & tomorrow they have some friends coming to dinner & Wednesday we are to go to a concert, so you see I shall be quite gay for my few days outing.
I hope you will all get on well in my absence & with much love to you & all I am
Your loving wife
Eugénie N Sladden
