My Dearest Wife,

I enclose you a few visiting cards and have sent the children’s vests to Richmond.  Your letter of 29th inst only arrived this morning, having been sent to Evesham in the first instance owing to a little uncertainty about the initial letter!  I managed to take a first and a second prize at Moreton yesterday although my roses were not anything out of the way I thought.  I have entered for the nationals on Tuesday but should not come up if it were not for bringing you and the children down.  The chicks are quite well.  I think they will be glad to get you home now.  I hope you will not find the weather too hot for you, I like it myself.  There is no news and I am very busy, so with much love, I remain

your affect Husband

Julius Sladden

I have just discovered that in my hurry I took my cards instead of yours from the drawer so must send to-morrow.

Letter of 30th received at Office.
