My Dear Kathleen,
I think you girls will quite like to have the time table (enclosed) by which you will see what Jack is doing in the way of exam, we have been predicting, severally, the marks he will get so if you like you can fill in the form I have sent and return it, so that it can be put with ours and compared when the figures come out, that will probably be between 10th and 15th of Dec. I thought I would write this little letter to you, as May I expect, will get the lion’s share of the correspondence this week, being her birthday.
I got home late on Friday evening and was delighted to find the news awaiting me that Jack was through the physical exam all right. I hear the Mayor and Corporation of Richmond were going in state to Church today so Jack would be in for that. Auntie Fanny has gone to Brighton for a few days but perhaps Jack might have time to see her on Thursday afternoon, which will be free to him, as he does not take German or Shorthand.
I think you will enjoy the fancy dress ball very much and you are lucky to be able to get such nice dresses for the affair. We have had quite a nice day, for once in the way, but there has been a lot of wet. Mr Righton is coming on Tuesday to inspect the house and premises with a view, I hope, of improving the property generally. Now I must close, as I have but little to communicate after my long budget to May from Pandy. Hoping to have good news of you both on Tuesday and with much love from us all.
I remain your affectionate Father,
Julius Sladden
