My Dear Kathleen,

I have just come in from a meeting my third this week and to-morrow I ought to attend a school-board meeting and the annual parish meeting afterwards, under all these circumstances I think I had better write to you this evening while I have a little time.

Cyril was pleased with his letter, he is rather proud because on Saturday when out with me we met the new vicar and thus he was the first to see him and also shook hands!

We have raised just over £20 for Mr Gepp’s present he is to have a nice gold watch and an illuminated address containing the names of the subscribers, it will probably be presented to him at the end of next week.  Mr Price will not be here till just after Easter perhaps he will read himself in on the first Sunday in your holidays.

We are very pleased with “Jimmy” for he was 2nd in form the last fortnight, 1st in English 2nd in French 3rd in Latin & 7th in arithmetic, he says he is getting on well with his gymnastics this term.

The Gepps are going to have a sale on 26th as they only want to take some of their furniture on account of the distance, Mrs Gepp and Blanche go next week, the others are going to have rooms at Mrs Wilson's for a few days.

We are getting such rough weather now and so much wet, it is so hindering to those on the land and any gardening is all behind.

I think very likely Jack will go to London after Easter to avail himself of some of the classes at Kings College.  We have just got his marks for that last exam, he was 2nd in arithmetic 270 out of 400 and high up in History and Geography, but Latin especially and Algebra and French, just the subjects he has not been taking lately pulled him back, in fact taking out those three subjects he stood third on the list only 57 below the successful candidate and 11 marks below the 2nd.

With love to you both
I remain
your affectionate Father

Julius Sladden

I enclose a short summary of my speech at Offenham which lasted 35 minutes
