My dear Mother

We went to the wild beast show yesterday.  We went with Mr Dayrell and Cynthia, we went all round it.  We had a ride on the elephant it jogged about very much, there were a lot of lions, we liked feeding the monkeys, we gave them some nuts, there were a lot of birds, we gave the elephant some buns, there was a polar bear there and a brown bear.  Papa said that if he went he would take Arthur but he had to go out, we did not get home till eight o clock.

Jack is writing you a letter.  We went to Bengeworth Church last Sunday to see the blue coat boys, we went with Mr Dayrell.  Arthur said when you had gone I’m very glad, I am very glad gone to get them out of the way.

I send my love to you & remain your affectionate daughter

May E Sladden

I liked the Elephant and the lions and Monkeys best.
