Jennie Maud Phillips, née Monger (1893-1977) was the sister of Hubert Phillips who was a schoolfriend of Arthur Sladden.  When the Sladden family holidayed in the Newport area in August 1914, Jennie and her brother, Robin, picnicked with the Sladdens.

Jennie Phillips was born at Capel Colman, Pembrokeshire, on 10th October 1893, the third of four children of the Reverend David Griffith Phillips and his wife, Anne Evelyn (née Monger). In 1897 the family moved to Cilrheydn, Carmarthenshire, when her father became Rector of Cilrheydn.  In 1904 they moved to Newport when her father became Rector of Newport.

Jennie was a boarder at a school in Staines, Middlesex, at the time of the 1911 census.  On 29th October 1919, Jennie married Robert Geoffrey Addenbrooke, a medical practioner, in Newport Parish Church; her father conducted the service.  They had one son, born in 1925 at Cleobury Mortimer.

Jennie died on 24th August 1977 at Droitwich, Worcestershire.
