Hubert married Malita Meredyth Meredith on 25th April 1906 at Wairarapa. They had two sons and two daughters: Eileen Lita (1907-?), John Hubert (1909-1969), Edwin Meredyth (1913-1971) and Helen Vida (1915-?). Hubert Sladden was an engineer and Sladden Park in Petone, Lower Hutt, Wellington, is named after him.
