Hugh William Bellairs SYKES (1914-2005)

Hugh William Bellairs Sykes (1914-2005) was the son of Cyril Sladden’s Lieutenant-Colonel in the 9^th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment, whilst Cyril was still training in England.  His father sadly committed suicide in January 1915 and he is mentioned in a few letters of that period.

Hugh was born on 17^th December 1914.  He was only three weeks old when his father committed suicide caused by overwork.

Hugh married and had two children.  He died at Abbotts Ann, Andover, Hampshire, on 2^nd March 2005, aged 90.
