Jane JONES (née Evans-Cunningham) (c1883-1933)
Jane Jones, née Evans-Cunningham (c1873-1933), known as Janie, was the mother of Juliet Sladden’s schoolfriend, Vera.
Janie Evans-Cunningham was born at Lawrence, Otago, New Zealand, in about 1873, the daughter of David Evans, a farmer. In 1891, she was living with her aunt and uncle, Robert and Elizabeth Cunningham, at 48 & 49 Pendre, Cardigan.
On 19th April 1898, she married a clergyman, Evan Phillips Jones at St John’s Church, Llanaber, Merionethshire. They had two children: Vera Elizabeth Cunningham Jones (1899-1985) and Robert Cunningham Jones (1900-1972). Unlike her husband and children, she only spoke English.
Janie died on 15th February 1933 at Glanymor, Newport, Pembrokeshire and was buried in Bryn-y-Gaer Cemetery, Hirwaun, Glamorganshire.
