Malita Meredyth SLADDEN (née MEREDITH) (1881-1941)

Malita Meredyth Sladden, née Meredith (1881-1941), known as Lita, was the wife of Hubert Sladden, who was the son of Julius Sladden’s elder brother, Dilnot (1842-1906).  Lita is mentioned in a picture postcard written by her mother-in-law on Christmas Day 1916.

Lita Meredith was born at Masterton, New Zealand, in 1879, the daughter of Edwin Meredith.  She married Hubert Sladden on 25th April 1906 at Wairarapa.  They had two sons and two daughters:  Eileen Lita (1907), John Hubert (1909-1969), Edwin Meredith (1913-1971) and Helen Vida (1915).

Lita died in February 1941 and was buried on 17^th February at Taita, Wellington, pre-deceasing her husband by nearly 12 years.
