Thomas Francis JELFS (1895-1998)

Thomas Francis Jelfs (1895-1998), known as Frank, was the son of Fanny Jelfs, a former nursemaid to the Sladden family.

Frank Jelfs was born on 17th January 1895 at Badsey, the eldest of five children of Oliver Jelfs and his wife, Fanny Caroline Moore (née Boswell).  He was baptized at St James’ Church, Badsey, on 17th March 1895.  Frank was just 11 years old when his father died in May 1906.

Frank married Winifred May Wilkins at Badsey on 30th November 1918.  They had four daughters, one of whom died shortly after birth.

Despite having not been passed fit for active service during the First World War, Frank Jelfs died in 1998, aged 103.
