Susannah Sarah BUTLER (née LAMBERT) (1823-1898)
Susannah Sarah Butler (1823-1898), née Lambert, was the mother-in-law of Fanny Butler (née Mourilyan), who was the sister of Eugénie Sladden.
Susannah Lambert was born at Beddington, Surrey, in 1823, the fifth of six children and only daughter of Charles Lambert, a snuff manufacturer, and his wife, Susan. She was baptized at Beddington with Wallington on 9th February 1823.
On 19th October 1842, at Beddington with Wallington, Surrey, Susannah married Charles Butler, who was the business partner of her older brother, Charles. The had founded Lambert & Butler in 1834, firstly manufacturing cigars, then expanding into the tobacco business.
Susannah and Charles had four sons and five daughters: Emma (184401925), Susannah (1845-1939), Charles (1848-1898), Helen (1849-1929), Annie (1851-1855), Harry (1855-1939), Walter (1858-1913), Frederick (1860-1945) and Mabel (1864-1950).
The Butler family lived at 142 Drury Lane in 1851 and at Hollyfield, Ewell Road, Kingston, at the time of the 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891 census.
Susannah Butler died at Hollyfield, Kingston, on 12th April 1898, her husband having pre-deceased her by 16 years.
