Devon - Exmouth: 5 Alexandra Terrace

5 Alexandra Terrace, Exmouth, was the home of Charles and Ellen Tanner, who were the parents of Courtney Tanner who had married Eugénie Sladden’s niece, Ethelwyn Mourilyan, in 1911.  In a letter of 20^th July 1914, whilst staying at the home of her daughter, Mary Simpson, in Budleigh Salterton, Mary Anna (Polly Robinson) went to have tea with the Tanners.  In December 1914, a letter written by Fred Mourilyan reveals that his daughter, Ethelwyn, was staying with her in-laws in Exmouth.

Alexandra Terrace overlooks the line of Exmouth's sea front.  The terrace today is relatively unchanged, although many of the original houses are now blocks of flats.
