Egypt - Port Said: Church of the Epiphany
The Church of the Epiphany was established in 1884 in Port Said. Cyril Sladden worshipped there whilst in Port Said in late January/early February 1916. He did not like Port Said as a town but very much appreciated being able to worship in a real church with an organ and the psalms sung, the first time for over four months.
The church was started for foreigners and tourists who were coming through the Suez Canal as labourers or sailors on ships. They searched for a church to attend and the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany was built for their needs. After a while, this church was mainly for a small number of ex-pats living in Port Said.
