Kent - Tunbridge Wells: Eridge Park
Eridge Park is a country estate on the border of Kent and Sussex two miles south of Tunbridge Wells in the heart of the High Weald countryside - set in 3,000 acres of glorious private parkland.
At the time that Julius Sladden visited in 1914, shortly before the outbreak of the First World War, the exuberant, Gothic-style Eridge Castle was still standing, but this was demolished in the late 1930s to be replaced by a Georgian-style mansion.
