Lance Corporal Harry Hancock, whose family moved to Bowers Hill, Badsey, in November 1914, is remembered on the war memorial at Bishops Frome. Harry lived in Bishops Frome from about 1905 to 1914, and it was from here that he enlisted for war. The memorial at Bishops Frome takes the form of a plaque on the lych-gate leading to the churchyard of St Mary’s Church. The lych-gate was built in 1921; 19 names are listed.
