Private Reginald Ashley Brewer (1896-1972) lived in Wickhamford in the 1930s. He was born in Paddington, the son of Stephen and Martha Brewer; the family was living in Great Malvern for the 1911 census where his father ran an apartment house.
Reginald enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps (No 2155) and landed in France on 30th March 1915. There are no further details of his service until he was demobilised on 17th February 1919. He was awarded the Victory and British War Medals and the 1915 Star.
He was on the 1924 Electoral Register in Badsey, living at 'Chalcroft' and at 'The Bungalow', Broadway Road, Wickhamford on the 1939 Electoral Register. He was a market gardener in Wickhamford at the time of the 1930 Auction of the Wickhamford Estate, living at 12 Pitchers Hill (now 101 Pitchers Hill) and renting 10 acres of land called 'Hither Coombe Way', located behind his house.
