Sergeant Jesse Colley (1897-1969) was in the Machine Gun Corps (No 102475). In 1911 he was still at school, living with his parents, Jesse and Olive, in Manor Road. He is the younger brother of Vincent Colley who is recorded on the war memorials in Wickhamford Church and Badsey School).
Nothing is known of his War record, but the Badsey Parish Magazine of March 1919 noted that he returned from France on 22nd February, suffering from influenza and was in a critical condition for some days. He survived this infection that took so many lives and lived to be 72 years of age. He was awarded the Victory and British War Medals and he is buried in Wickhamford churchyard.
