Details of Will

I, Thomas Bird of Badsey, yeoman, who though weak in body am of sound mind and memory, give:

•    To my loving wife Mary all that messuage or tenement situate in Badsey now in the possession of Joseph Sympson my tenant together with the orchard, garden, outbuildings and appurtenances thereto belonging (except the barn which I give to my son Thomas Bird who now lives with me and to his heirs and assigns for ever) to hold to her for the term of her natural life

•    I also give to my wife a bed with the appurtenances together with four pewter dishes and a dozen pewter plates for her use during her life and from and immediately after her decease I give the same together with the messuage to my son Thomas Bird

•    Also I give to my wife a yearly sum of £20

•    To my son Thomas Byrd all and singular other my real and personal estates situate and being at Badsey and Aldington subject to the payment of the above annuity

•    In case my son shall die without issue and before he shall attain the age of 21 if my wife is still living she should hold and enjoy the benefit of all my estate in Badsey and after her decease I give the same estate to William Smith, eldest son of my brother-in-law Henry Smith of Badsey yeoman to hold to him and his heirs for ever

•    And the residue of my estate I give to William Smith immediately upon the decease of my son he leaving no issue
