I, John Grove of Badsey, yeoman

  • To my son Francis the eldest the house wherein I now dwell and all the appurtenances and hereditaments thereunto belonging
  • To my son John ………..
  • To my son Pearcy my third and youngest son living, the living I bought off Edmund Dingley known or commonly called by the name of Harward’s Living; I also give my my son Pearcy a greater land which I bought off William Dark  ……………………..
  • Come to my son Francis then .. in the fields of Offenham called by the name of Blackminster or Blakenhurst shall return or fall to my son John, thereout his paying any debts or ? But upon supposition or in case my son Francis shall have sold or mortgaged aforesaid in the fields of Offenham, my son Pearcy shall .. to my son John and not to my son Francis.  ? upon supposition my son Pearcy shall have an issue to inherits his estate and his estate can no way .. to my son Francis and by assignment Blackminster not very likely to return to my son John upon this provisio I oblige my son Francis not to sell or mortgage Blackminster and in case he do sell or mortgage aforesaid the estate called Blackminster, then I do oblige my son Francis to pay to my son John the sum of £500
  • To my daughters Mary and Martha £100 each
  • To my daughter Mary I give £100 to be paid by my son Pearcy so soon as my daughter may shall come to the age of 21 years
  • To my daughter Martha the sum of £100 to be paid as she reaches 21
  • £50 to be paid by my son Francis to my ? and £50 to be paid by my son Pearcy
  • Lastly I make this promise if my son Francis shall not pay all debts and legacies then my said estate in the fields of Offenham called by the name of Blackminster together with his part of the goods and chattels shall return to my son John and my son Pearcy for the payment of such debts and legacies as enoyed upon my son Francis and I also make this proviso in case my son Pearcy shall not pay out legacies as are enjoyed upon him, then his estate shall return to my son Francis and my son John .. and then do son Pearcy .. John I do oblige my son Francis to administer and maintain my two daughters
