Details of Will
This is the last will and testament of me, Robert Knight, of Badsey in the county of Worcester, yeoman, hereby revoking all wills by me at any time heretofore made.
I appoint my son-in-law, John Sharp of Bengeworth, carpenter, executor and trustee of this my will.
- I give and devise all ready monies I may have in the Worcester Savings Bank or elsewhere unto my dear wife, Mary Knight, absolutely
- And as to the remainder of my real chattel, real and personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever, I give devise and bequeath the same unto the said John Sharp, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns according to the respective nature and qualities thereof, but upon the trusts following
- That is to say, upon trust to permit and suffer my dear wife, Mary Knight, to receive and take the rents, issues and profits thereof for her life after paying thereout the costs and charges without incident to keeping the same in tenantable repair and insured from damage by fire, And upon further trust to permit and suffer my said dear wife to have the use and enjoyment of my household furniture, chattels and effects for her life
- And from immediately after the decease of my said wife I give, devise and bequeath unto my eldest son, Joseph Knight, his heirs and assigns, All that the cottage with moiety of the garden and outbuildings now used herewith and now in my own occupation situate in Badsey aforesaid for his own absolute use and benefit su bject nevertheless to the payment within six calendar months after the death of my said wife of the sum of £20 to my daughters, Ann, Elizabeth, Abigail, Sarah, Mary, Harriet and Emma, in equal shares to whom I give the same absolutely
- I give and devise and bequeath unto my two sons, William Knight and Thomas Knight, their heirs and assigns, All that the cottage and premises with the remaining moiety of the garden and outbuildings now used therewith and adjoining the last mentioned cottage as tenants common subject nevertheless to the like payment of £20 within six calendar months after the death of my said wife to my above-named daughters in equal shares to whom I give the same absolutely
- I also give unto my said daughters all my household furniture and effects of what nature or kind soever, share and share alike, and to be divided by them in the way they may think but and in case of the death of either of my said daughters in the lifetime of my said wife, I direct and declare that the share of such daughter so dying shall be paid to the child or children she may leave at her decease on their attaining 21 years of age in equal shares and if there should be no such child who should live to take under the aforesaid trust then the share shall be paid to the husband of my deceased daughter absolutely if he should be then living and failing that then I give and bequeath the same to my surviving daughters, share and share alike if more than one and if but one then to that one absolutely
