SOUTHERN, Frank (1914-1972) - Royal Artillery

Frank SouthernFrank Southern was a Gunner (No. 9266070) in the Royal Artillery.

A motor mechanic in civilian life, he enlisted on 5 April 1940 and was based at Catterick and Otterburn as a mechanic. He is not thought to have seen overseas service and was demobilised on 17 February 1946.

Before the War he was a long-distance lorry driver for Spiers, of Church Street, Evesham.

He was the second youngest son of Charles and Maria Southern.  The family lived at 13 Council Cottages (now 29 Pitchers Hill) Wickhamford.  Frank was a fruit merchant's lorry driver in 1939.
